Twins & MoM’s

The Twins & MoM’s Club caters for parents of twins and multiple birth children, providing a regular meeting place, support and activities with guidance from our own Health Visitor.

Since 2003 the Twins Club & MoM's Club has been one of the Springboard membership schemes. Originally one of our organisation members, it was taken into the membership umbrella so that the families with multiple birth children would have this very valuable resource available and so that the Project would undertake all the administration, fundraising and membership tasks as well as adding value to the time the families are with us, including a regular programme of outings and special sessions.

Whilst Nina is on maternity leave, Morag, our Play Coordinator, is the organiser for the Springboard Twins & MoM's Club (a "MOM" is a mum of multiple birth children - not an Americanism!) and we have a membership currently of 32 families, of which two have triplets.

The Club meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays monthly alternating between mornings and afternoons with occasional guest visitors who give guidance on a range of issues such as sleeping patterns, pre-school development, dental health and toddler behaviour. We have also been very fortunate to have our own dedicated Health Visitor, who visits the sessions and uses the opportunity to speak informally to the parents about how their children are progressing and discuss any concerns. Membership also includes unlimited use of the Centre during normal opening times.

The parents gain tremendous peer support and additional assistance for the club is received through TAMBA (Twins and Multiple Births Association) a national association that we are affiliated to. Also, the opportunity to arrange outings for the Club is part of our programme, which has included trips to Legoland Windsor and Holmbush Farm. The Club is a very valuable resource and Springboard is pleased to have this group as part of the Project's work for local families, as well as some from further away.
